So, I have an idea, and I wanted to know what you guys think about it. We've all seen the new bulletin a month or two ago that said that zone vt is gone until further notice. My sources (which are very reliable) tell me that there is no talk of it ever coming back for a specific reason which I will not reveal here. I know some of you have stopped going on the zone as much because the whole vibe of the place has changed. Yet, you'd go to vt, and you'd find the old groove again. We had a great group going. I know some of you might have started your own servers and broke up into your little clumps. I've been a part of none of these servers, so I know nothing. What I am suggesting is starting a vt server meant for people from the zone. It will be open to the public, so anyone can get on it. But it'd be primarily for zone users. I'd then count on you all to circulate it around to your friends. So, is this a good idea? Is it a shitty idea? What do you all think? If all you have to say is something stupid, pplease don't say it at all.

Well, it would be an interesting idea, but how many users should it support. What about dialup users. There has to be a reason on why it was closed to begin with. Who's going to share the cost. While I know I've read the zone bbs server was shut down, I have my reasons. But i am not sure if I'm right and it isn't important. But, it would have to be hosted on a domain with plenty of bandwidth and people who can do something should the rules be broken.
I will assign people to monitor it, and any of the CL's or zone admins are free to help, though I'm not expecting contributions from them. This is my own project. It would be hosted on a domain with plenty of band width. No, it was not shut down because of costs. I will cover the costs anyway. I am willing to pay semianually for a server with fifteen slots. If anyone wants to help me pay for more space, be my guest. But judging by the activity of the old zone server, we shouldn't need more slots.
I think it a very interesting idea. I do know that there are a lot of people (myself as one of them) that miss having the vt servver.
I was always lead to believe that VT worked much better on broadband. If you wanna voice chat nowadays, broadband is what you have to use.
why not just sart your own. and whoever comes on comes on. you don't need it to be a part of the zone. or is this what your saying/
I reccomend you use a offsite provider as you'll have more stability that way and you can hold more then the 8 people.

I pay 11 dollars for a 30 slot server and I've only had one minor problem with them since having them last July.
The new VT is set up so that different channels can be set to different codex.
So you can have a channel for dial up and a channel for broadband all on the same server.
Broadband sounds a lot better.
That's what I am saying, Shea. It'd be a vt intended for people from the zone but not aphiliated with the zone. But I'm wondering if people would come on if I put it out there, so that's what I'm doing now, presenting the idea to you all, trying to get feedback.
I would rosey, and yes allot of us mis vt allot. I've been on some of the other servers, but all the ones I'vetried are dead, and it would be nice to be abe to go to one that people know about. *smile*
Welcome all zoners, We have a new Ventrilo server up and running. It is in no way related to the zone but is running on a server with more then enuff bandwidth, and is open for access. There are three admin's as of now so it is able to be admined around the clock if something goes wrong.
